How to get to Poitiers (town center)

  • By train.

Take the TGV (=High Speed Train) to "Poitiers" train station. This is the fastest and most convenient way to travel from Paris to Poitiers.

It is best to buy your ticket in advance. For reservation and information, see with your travel agency or http://www.tgv.comconsult or the SNCF website (unfortunately, the latter is only in french). Reservations for the TGV are available 3 months before train departure.
TIP: Once on the SNCF website, click on the circle labelled "train "at the top of the page. You will have detailed information.

If you come from Paris town center, start from the train station "Paris Montparnasse" (the metro is "Montparnasse-Bienvenue" on lines 4, 6, 12 or 13). There is about one TGV per hour going to Poitiers.
If you come from Charles de Gaulle airport, it is possible to find a direct TGV from the station "Aeroport CDG2 TGV" to "Poitiers". The journey is less than 2h3O. Be careful, there are only about 5 TGV per day doing this travel (starting around 8 am, 9 am, 2 pm, 4 pm and 7 pm).
Alternatively, one can take the RER B from Charles de Gaulle till Gare du Nord, then take the metro, line 4, direction Porte d'Orleans, till Gare Montparnasse and take a TGV from there to Poitiers (see again http://www.tgv.com).

TIP: You can find information on public transportation in and around Paris at the RATP website.

From Poitiers train station, one takes the bus no 9, direction Futuroscope, and stops at 1ere avenue: this stop corresponds to the hotels.

  • By plane.

    - If you arrive at Poitiers' Biard airport, take a taxi.

  • By car.

    - Via the motorway A10 (if you come from Paris). Take exit 29 "Poitiers-centre".
Consult the Mappy Road guide for detailed information.
